Anybody knows about Arowana fish?

By

I just got a baby arowana, funny thing is I don’t know how to raise them and heard that it’s one of most hardy-fish.

So I was wondering if anyone here could provide me a site that allow to learn all types of arowana. I’ve been cycling the net for almost a week and all I found was just the information about Arowana, but I like to know all the name of this species.

The seller told me that the fish that i bought is an Australia Arowana but I don’t what color it is, so did the seller.

My fish is about 10cm, at the end of its scale starting to show gold color and it tale seem to have some dots or some points which is yellow or dark yellow, there were 10 of them in the store and only the one that I bought is has this dots or point and it seem that my fish is darker then the other 9.

Question:
-Which types that has the Highest Price?
-Notice its gender?
-Breeding Technique?
-Technique for caring them?
-How to cool the water (I read that they live at 22-29c) but my tank’s water is around 29 and sometime almost 32.
-Is there anyway to make them grow faster?
-How to raise more than one fish, they’re always biting each other when put more than 1 in the tank?

If there is anything that important which I didn’t know, please do tell…

Thank You so MUCH for you TIME…, best regard…
Oh one more thing, it seem that my fish only eat water insect (mosquito’s babies or whatever its called, I don’t know), it doesn’t eat other small fish that I put in. Is there anyway to make it used to eat those small fish…

When the fish get older they do like to eat other fish as well.
As for how often you should feed your Arowans fish it really is quite simple. Babies should eat 3 times a day, medium aged should eat twice a day while adult Arowana should eat only once per day.
Variety in feeding when it comes to Arowana is very important but also to keep the diet balanced.

I would suggest you have a chat with the guys here:

How are you keeping this fish? A tank only cycled for a week won’t be suitable, they need very large, very well filtered and most of all mature tanks. At only 10cm it’s actually going to be a pretty fragile baby, quite the opposite of being hardy!

Have a chat with the guys on monster fishkeepers who are experts in Arowana keeping or have a word with these guys:

Arowana keeping should not be taken lightly! And I would forget about the breeding unless you have enormous tropical ponds and several adults, they’re not that easy to breed in captivity.

Whoever said an arowana is one of the most hardy fishes is either an idiot or a liar.

Anyhow, the main thing you need to raise one is an enormous tank. It will grow to about a yard (almost one meter) in length. It eats live small fish and large fish food pellets.

The Australian Arowana, also known as the “Saratoga,” is illegal in the United States, so I assume you are in some other country.
Anyhow, you’ll need to read as much as you can find on this fish and its care– more than anybody can give you here.

Good luck.
