1. The ‘figure of eight’ loop knot is superior in strength to the knot you demonstrated. Also you should use a hook-length material of at least 6lbs when specifically targeting barbel, as they are incredibly strong fighters relative to their size.

Nice simple rig. You can improve on it by putting one or two float stops above the feeder to produce a semi-bolt type rig.
But please don’t use a 4lb hook length for barbel, that’s likely to end in misery, for the angler and more importantly, the fish.

Wish i could get real maggots as meaty as that rubber one,all i seem to get are ones that could be on a famine appeal video.
