Fishing from a kayak is considered to be a magnificent sporty experience, how ever it has also proved to be a risky activity. Thus, it becomes extremely important to know the guidelines and tricks to have a full control over the kayak and fishing simultaneously. You might be wondering why do people venture out on kayak fishing, well it is for the simple reason that such kind of fishing is quiet cost effective.

In comparison to other forms of fishing watercrafts, sea kayaks are reasonable to set up on one’s own. Also, they are light in weight and small in size, making them easy to transport from one place to the other. The most important benefit of kayak fishing is that the kayaks do not create large waves so this prevents them from the making disturbance in water or scaring away the fishes.

Kayak fishing is not as easy as it may seem to be. This is particularly true if you plan to fish in a large water body. Thus, it is advised to take kayaking lessons from an expert in the field. Such an expert would not only teach you on how to do kayaking but also give you some handy tips which would be useful while fishing. Also, you must make sure before you start kayaking, you have checked the weather forecast and all other essential information on water safety. All this is important to procure before hands as with any slightest challenges in weather condition you would be required postpone your trip.

Kayaks are available in the market in basically two models. The first one is the sit-in model which is relatively an old model and in this kind of kayak the angler has to sit inside it. The second one is the sit-on-top models. It is a new model in which the angler sits on top of the kayak. A sit-in kayak being more stable is preferred for beginners.

Another very vital consideration in kayak fishing is selecting the right kayak. Although a brand new kayak would come at a good price of around USD 1000 or even more. If that is out of your budget you can purchase a second hand kayak but do make sure that its yak is in a good condition.

When selecting a kayak paddle try and choose one which is of lightweight and of a superior brand. This would allow you to continue paddling for a long period of time. For kayak fishing it is important to carry additional good quality paddles. This gives the users greater level of safety.

When going for fishing on a kayak, take along with you essential fishing gear such as rods, reels, lines, artificial lures and live baits. It would be a good idea to carry a bilge pump to empty water from the kayak if there are no self-draining scuppers in your kayak.

Last but not the least; make it a point to wear personal flotation device and efficient signaling devices.

Ned Catches the largest Mayan Cichlid he has ever caught on the rc fishing pole this time making it 2 for 2 on the day. Lucky for him a giant 80 pound Tarpon had been trailing his bait earlier and almost sank his boat to the watery grave. The Number one motor had over heated on the Gheenoe so the booze barge was underpowered but quickly made it up to the spot. The large Cichlid bullied the RC boat but Ned countered with superior know-how and brought this fish home!

We were sent these tapes by Belgian carp fishing legend Ronny De Groote. Ronny banked these two monsters on the same session at a lake in Austria recently, a lovely common at 55lb 4oz, and an even bigger mirror at 61lb 4oz! Both were nailed on Nash Monster Squid Boilies! Go Rockin’ Ronny!

I’m a very novice fisherman, and I’m cleaning some crappies that my friends caught today. It’s over 3 hours after they brought them back, and they kept them on ice in a cooler while fishing. I have one on the cutting board, and he’s still “kicking” a bit. He’s been out of water for hours! WTF?
Thanks Erik!
I should add that this happened before I even started cutting. It was just sitting there on the cutting board and its fins we moving a little every once in a while, and its body curved a couple times on its own. I do admit, it completely freaked me out for a while there. Then I finally just took a hammer to it, and a major cut with a knife into its head and it didn’t move again. I just hope the guy wasn’t suffering.

My local pet store owner says that if a fish is going to die of stress from being moved it will dye in the first day (i know that’s not true) so if ur fish dyes 2 days after you get she will not take it back.
So my Q is is that ok for her to do that and is that legal?
