Alright, I dont know if anyone watches the fish questions like I do, but I have had a few troubles getting into fish, and now have another. I started off with 2 fantail goldfish in a 1 gal tank. One died, due to my lack of knowlege on tank size ect. I was given a 30 gal tank, which is what I was told I would need for my 2 goldfish. That tank is now fully cycled, and I put my goldfish in there. I bought 3 snails for the tank. The trouble is that the tank came with a neon tetra, and a glass catfish. The Tetra is a tropical fish, the golfish is a coldwater fish, and I dont know anything about the catfish. I have a few questions.
1.) What should I do? I still have the 1 gal tank, but I dont think it is big enough for any of my fish. I have the water at 70 degrees F. Which is really low for the tropical, and high for my goldfish.
2.) How big do neon tetras get? Are there any special instructions for care?
3.) Any information on glass catfishes?
4.) Do snails need additional algea wafers with 3 fish?
5.) Are there additional things that I need to put in the water for a tropical fish, that my goldfish doesnt need. So far I use aquarium salt, stress zyme, and declorinator.
6.) Is it okay if my goldfish eat the tropical fish, and my tetra eats goldfish pellets? I have tried to feed the goldfish its food, but the tetra gets to it first, and my goldfish eats the tropical food.
7.) Any other suggestions?

I have done a ton of reading about goldfish, but I dont really know what to do with the tropicals.

I have a 30 gallon tank and 1 cory catfish who is about 6 inches long. I have 4 other fish that are between 1 to 2 inches long, so I don’t think it’s a room issue. But this catfish swim iratically up and down the sides and front of the tank, knocking over decorations, uprooting plants, etc. We have had the tank for over a year and he was the 2nd fish we put in the tank, so it’s not a new enviroment issue. So, I am wondering if this is normal, or what I am thinking is maybe he doesn’t have enough room to hide. We have this cave that he used to stay in all the time but he has not been in it as much lately; I think he is too big for it now. So does maybe he just want a place to hide or is it normal for catfish to do this? Thank you.
***that is what they told me when I bought the fish that is was a cory……also I check my water every week and levels are good.

Two really awesome (well at least they look awesome) movies are coming out (Catfish and It’s Kind of a Funny Story) but are doing the limited release crap! I live in a small town in New Jersey so there’s no way they would come to my town!! It just totally sucks because all the big movies are crap nowadays and that’s all the one movie theater near me shows!!!! It just completely sucks. WHY MUST THEY(movie distributors or whatever) DO THIS TO ME?

Dream of catching big fish….?

Posted by: | Comments (1)

I had a dream last night and in my dream i was fishing…

In my dream, my fishing was extremely successful… I was catching so many fish… I was fishing from like a dock or the edge of a lake. And the fish were actually coming towards me waiting for me to cast my rod and i could see the fish around me just waiting in the shallow water

Then, as i’m looking in the water the biggest fish ever imaginable swam towards me (it seemed like a gigantic catfish or so).
In a frenzy, I found the biggest piece of bait that i could (the bait seem like a big chunk of raw tuna) and casted my rod towards the huge fish.
I ended up catching the big fish and was really happy…

Was this a good dream or bad dream?… Any thought or comments, or critical interpretation?….

I just bought two baby red tail catfish about 4-5 inches. I let them go in my pond today, it is a farely big pond, I have lots of gold fish in the pond, some very big and some very small. I also have these small little black fish, I have three koi carp, two grass carp, and two channel catfish. I feed them everyday with these pellets that float on the top of the water, and I sometimes throw in bread and meats. Will my red tail catfish eat this, will they eat some of the small goldfish as a baby? I know they will eat bigger gold fish and other fish when they get older, that is fine. There are also lots of tad pols in the pond, there are very small tad pols and pretty large tad pols, I know these will turn into frogs soon, but I just want to know if my red tailed catfish will eat these. Thanks, and I just want to know if they survive, I think they will but I just want to know what you guys think. Thanks!

Why did my redtail catfish die?

Posted by: | Comments (4)

I had a redtail catfish that I raised for about 7 months. It grew really big (about a foot and a half) and we built a 5x5x5 pond (about 1000 gallons) for it. After we let it cycle for about 2 months, we tested the water and it was in perfect condition for the fish. We couldn’t afford the filter at the time so we didn’t get one. However, the person who tested our water said we didn’t need one yet. It lived in the pond for about 3 months but today we found it dead in the pond. It had been raining about a day ago. Could it have been possible that the dirty rain water could have polluted its water?

We did all we could for it. We didn’t overfeed him or anything and we always made sure the water was clean. This fish was a big deal for us because we all contributed to it and tried our best to make it happy.
