CONTAINS SPOILERS, DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED MOVIE YET

Before you read the rant, I’m going to get this straight: I am a complete Pixar fan. Monsters Inc., Up, Toy Story 1-3, Bug’s Life, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, WALL-E (epic), completey loved those and I would give every one of those at least 9 out of 10. Now I watched Finding Nemo, and I was like huh? Did I get this right? Pixar made this? It’s about as bad as Ice Age 2 and 3.
First off, Nemo’s mother gets killed like 2 minutes into the movie, wtf? Then they meet a group of sharks that love fish, WTF? And then the sharks appear for only 5 minutes and disappear for the rest of the movie, making the entire movie free of any antagonist except a behind-a-scene one (the diver)? Then the bunch of turtles appear out of nowhere just to help the fish, then once again they disappear permanently, adding absolutely nothing to the story other than the annoying “dude” at the end of every damn comment. The only bit of the movie that I liked was the aquarium escape attempts, those actually made sense, and were recurring. What happened to other recurring characters? Why not make the sharks ANTAGONISTS that chase the fish throughout the film? But no, Pixar had to turn even the ANTAGONISTS into protagonists because they are metally retarded and “love” fish, afraid that kids might be scared of REAL sharks chasing down fish for breakfast? And I suppose it’s American humor that people with short term memory are “funny”? I did not laugh even once at any of Dory’s comments, they were purely stupid and unnecessary, and the only part where the short term memory actually contributed to the plot was very briefly forgetting who Nemo was and then suddenly remembers it again after 30 seconds after reading the word “Sydney”. And Nemo’s dad, who sounds like a heavy smoker who just woke up from bed, is the one who survives the barracuda instead of Nemo’s mom, guess they want an all-male team or something, or did they miss basic biology lessons that the females of most species are supposed to be the “caring” ones?
/end rant.
Yes it’s a colorful movie, but that’s the only good thing I can think of this movie. Terrible plot, really dumbed down dialogue, and characters that just “happen to appear at the right time at the right place” to help and disappear for the rest of the movie. 5/10

Fish tail ideas for a mermaid tail?

Posted by: | Comments (2)

Ok, so I’m making my first silicone mermaid tail, but I’m not sure what shape to do for the fluke. I don’t really want to so a traditional dolphin or whale tail, but something like that, only more fishy. I actually was thinking a barracuda-type fluke. If anyone knows any fish tails that would make a good mermaid tail, please share!

Let me clarify “attack”. I mean attack as in either bite, stab, or any other means of attacking that do not involve poison or venom (or electricity). So I won’t count a stingray’s venomous stinger. I’ve heard that barracudas have bitten humans and made some nasty marks, but only out of sheer mistakes for prey. Do other fish do things like sharks do?

Fishing tips: Santa Monica Pier?

Posted by: | Comments (1)

Hi,
First time fishing off of Santa Monica pier, I would be using light tackle. Common fish caught are Shark, Halibut. More common than both are white croaker (tom cod), queenfish (herring), sardines, walleye surfperch, salema, sargo, scorpionfish (sculpin), kelp bass (calico bass), sand bass, Pacific mackerel, jack mackerel (Spanish mackerel), and bonito (on live bait or bubbles with a feather). Occasionally, barracuda, white seabass or even yellowtail. I have no Idea what bait or rig to catch fish to use.
I was planning on using strips of fish or squid on a hook with a light sinker and maybe even a bobber. Anybody have any better suggestions?
Thanks
