Daily Ragworm Check

I check my ragworm everyday or 2… any that appear not to be moving i nudge and if i dont get a good response… they are either dead or dying… these worms need removing as soon as possible as they may contaminate and kill the remaining healthy worms! If they are visually ok, but not very active i dont bin them straight away… these get put in a separate container and if they improve by the next check then i keep them, if not then they get binned! what do rag & lug worm eat, does anyone know?

Sorry for taking a while to reply, i just put a bit of sand in though this is not necassary. as for food i dont feed them and ive kept them over a month with this method before ive used them but i know people who use the same method and have kept their worms over 3 months.

what else are you put in the container? sand ? how are you feeding them ? For how long are they stay alive ?

Hi mate, They are kept in seawater that is collected weekly.

Do you keep them in sea/estuary water, or fresh? I presume fresh will kill them, but I thought I’d ask!
