Do these fish eat mosquito larvae and what other ones.?
ByI have a pond in australia (NSW) and i want to put fish in it but i realised that mosuito larva are swimming around in it, so i had to drain it. I need fish that will kill all the mosquito eggs and larva stuf. I want to put in koi and goldfish, but will they eat all of the larva and none of them will grow into flying insects. And what other fish or stuf can i get to stop mosquitos in my australian pond (NSW)

who cares if none of them grow into flying insects. Mosquitoes are a disease carrying nuisance anyway. I feed my fish bloodworms, which are mosquito larve. It is a nice treat for your fish. Let them eat them and if it gets worse get another fish or two if you have room.

You might try guppies, gambusia or other livebearers. They have been introduced to rivers, lakes, streams in many parts of the world just for the purpose of mosquito control. They are tropicals so you will need to know your water temperature and speak to a local fish dealer about whether your outdoor conditions would suit these fish. They do love mosquito larvae! They are also inexpensive (as long as you avoid the ‘fancy’ guppies) and they also reproduce very readily so you could start with a small group and have several more as time goes on, without purchasing any more–as long as your area is not too cool. Guppies are pretty fish and I’ve often dreamed of having a guppy pond in my backyard. Good luck!
