Those clothes that breathe that the fishermen wear (try Dick’s)…..my dad is hard core and he always wears that stuff. Another good idea is polarized sunglasses…..that lets people see through the glare on the water and see the fish better.
Good Luck,

They sell a type of fishing hat that has a built in mosquito netting feature.
I was born and raised in Alaska. Believe me…he will need it.
The mosquitos are so big the FDA wanted to require them to have landing lights.
Best Regards.

My father loves to fish too, and he’s the guy who has EVERYTHING–so just go to a good bait n tackle store, or the nearest Outfitters store, anywhere with ‘a large variety of fishing gear’ and buy him a (gift certificate), he can pick out whatever he wants. He would have more fun picking it out himself, like a kid in a candy store!

Does he have a pair of chest waders? Those are great for fishing in streams, especially if the water is cold.

Get him a Big Billy Bass. Have you ever seen those. They are made out of rubber and they’re on a plaque. There is a button some where on the plaque that you push and when you push it they turn their head and start singing to you. They are hilarious! Get him one of those.

Might suggest a pair of good chest waders or some rain gear. Depends on where he’s headed, but I lived in Southeastern AK., (Yakutat, Sitka, Ketchikan, Juneau, Douglas Island (across Gastineau Channel from Juneau) + a few more and those areas are known for it’s, “water from the skies”. If he gets good weather than the chest waders would still come in handy on the rivers or as far as that goes when he gets back home. Good luck to ya’ and “fish on” ~ for your step-dad

Here are some great Father’s Day gift ideas:
1) The Mist 2 Speakers for iPod Nano would be a great gift, he can listen to all his favorite music without headphones!
I have a Nano and sometimes I just want to listen to music at home without putting the headphones in, here’s a link to the green set of speakers (also comes in blue):
2) He doesn’t have a Nano yet? Here you can find the new iPod Nano:
3) A great techie gift is a digital picture frame. Upload the photos for him. He’s gonna love that! They come in different colors too:
You can find more unique Father’s Day gifts at Yahoo! Shopping Dad’s & Grad’s Gift Center:
Hope this helps!

It really depends on what kind of fishing he will be doing, but if he’s fishing for anything like Salmon, Trout, Dolly Vardin, or Grayling, etc. I would suggest a pair of Neoprene Chest Waders and some Wading Boots. Honestly, being from AK, Hip Waders just don’t cut it anymore…they are a real hassle. If he plans on fly fishing, may I suggest, one of those floating tubes they make now for the serious fisherman. My dad uses his all the time in the lake behind our house. Which again, is where the chest waders and boots come in handy. It can be inflated/deflated and packed easily.
Just a suggestion…Hope it helps & Good Luck.

Cabellas.com gift certificate….
my dad is the fisherman with (almost) everything. he’ll drive an hour and a half to go to the nearest Cabella’s outlet just to “browse.” so unless you have fished with him, and heard him mention exactly what he needs, you cant go wrong with a cabella’s gift certificate

A gift certificate is always a nice thing to get. This way, he can decide himself on what exactly he needs. My wife has been giving me certificates to Bass Pro Shops/ Outdoor World and I love her for it.
