Fishing the North Saskatchewan River
By
My friends and I fish the North Saskatchewan River (on the outskirts of Terwillager Dog Park in Edmonton) for walleye, goldeye and pike! We used pickerel and jackfish rigs tipped with a minnow.

So I’ve heard

Goldeyes are great for the smoker.
September 9th, 2010 at 1:05 am
Well, we call it “prime time” its in between 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm and its when the walleye are out in the shallows, if you want goldeye and mooneye find shadier spots earlier(10:00-12:00) in the day.
we do cast beyond the weed line by about 20 feet! we have toyed with so many lures at the river but pickerel rigs are the best! jigs are good too though, and I did catch a 8lb walleye on a 3/8oz jig with a plastic 3″ grub. also perch spoons work for goldeye and pike too.
Tight lines and Thanks!

Great video guys!! I have fished up and down the river around there and have been skunked so far. Are you casting out just past the weeds or farther? I am using a pickerel rig with minnows and still nothing! Does time of day matter for you?
You guys ROCK! Keep posting your vids!

We get the odd brown I’ve heard, and we get some of whitefish but that’s what I’ve heard! I might try a more trout friendly lure some time.
Thanks!

Nice fish. Do u guys ever run into any trout that far down. I fish the river lots in between Rocky and drayton and catch almost every kind of fish but never any walleye that big. awesome job.
