It’s been a few years but take a bucket of minnows with you for Crappie and a bucket of shiners for bass. I’ve fished for both there and it was great. I hope you enjoy yourself.

Great bass fishery in the lily pad areas
Fish with shiner minnows and if you want a good tip, Troll with the shiner minnows really slowly near the pads and BAM big bass.
Also expect some Great Crappie and I hear that near the end you could catch some red fish.
Ask around on I’m sure you will find something

Fly fishing is o.k for that creek too and you may like it too.

Largemouths, crappie, catfish, mmm…
Haven’t been to black creek specifically, but anywhere through the St. John’s system will produce at least those three… if you don’t have any luck in one spot, just keep trolling along, you’ll find fish, it’s the way it works out there.
As for the redfish comment posted earlier, towards the mouth of the St. John’s where the water is brackish, yes, but finding reds inshore in freshwater St.John’s system…. doubtful… anything off the Indian River system, sure, but that’s usually close to ocean salinity depending on time of year and rainfall…

sure,in tidal creeks, whiteing, trout and flounder, use shrimp for bait and fish on the bottom at rising tide or just after the tide starts to go out
