How did fish get from the big fishing fish like bass to the ones thay you don’t fish for that you keep a tank ?
ByYou know what i mean. Just wondering why we don’t fish for mollies or platies or small catfish but we fish for big ones like bass and big catfish.

Because we can eat them.
And the bigger the fish, the more bragging rights of course!!

People generally fish for 2 reasons, either to put food on their plate or for the fun of it. Either way you need a larger fish to accomplish this. Also, most of the fish you mentioned come from tropical waters.

Much would depend on where you live. Should you happen to hail from a small African or South American village, you’ll quite happily make a meal out of everything that gets caught in your net or you will stick a hook in it’s mouth and put it back hoping to catch something bigger.
Not being faced with having only what you can catch to eat we have the luxury of keeping the smaller varieties as pets for our visual pleasure.
There is also the vexing fact tropical fish don’t live in our native waters and you can’t catch what isn’t there

I used to have a bass, two bluegill, and a channel cat in a large aquarium.
