A sudden change of food can cause digestive issues. Typically, I’ve seen more loose stool when I’ve done this. It is advised to gradually change the food over a course of a couple of weeks, but this can’t always be done. I’ve had my dogs skip a day. If you fear constipation, you could try giving your dog a spoonful of 100% pure canned pumpkin (not the pie filling). Your poor dog has had many changes and is needing to get adjusted. If things haven’t “moved” by morning I would advise calling the vet’s office. You may not need to take her in as this is something that may be addressed by phone. If you haven’t established the dog as a patient, you’ll need to take her in. She needs your vet to give her a look over anyway since she is new to your family. I’m not familiar with the food you switched to, but know that the R. Ray line contains quite a bit of salt. I’m sure you had reasons to pick that food, however, if you decide you aren’t pleased with it or your dog isn’t doing well on it, Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Merrick and the Costco Kirkland brands are quality foods. Also, I try to avoid free-feeding, but instead schedule an am and pm meal. This helps keep the dog on a more regular bowel movement schedule. At this point you really don’t know what her “normal” is. Good luck with your new dog.
