I dropped my goldfish when I was cleaning his fish bowl.?

By

I picked him up right after he fell and put him back in bowl. Do you think he’ll be ok? I don’t want him to die.

He’s a flusher

2

Don’t worry, he probably forgot about it.

3

if hes still swimming hes fine go to petco

4

its just like if someone dunks you in water when you don’t expect it, it’s not fun, but if he’s alive now he’ll be fine unless the fall hurt him, which would probably heal anyways.

5

Yea, don’t worry, he can survive the impact. He’s fine.

6

Yep will be fine

7

He will be fine, fish get hammered around all the time and survive, you ever been fishing? if you have, think how much you have to hit them to knock them out?

8

u willl find out in a few days

9

If he’s not going belly up he should be fine, fish generally show signs something is wrong right away.

10

There only 25 cents at the goat barn. Go get a new one.

11

if he is swimming, dont worry hes going to be fine!

he will be ok :) but you should never NEVER tuch fish eyes and wash your hand before tuching fish m tah??ok

13

If he doesn’t just float on the surface he is fine and no psychological trauma there

14

dont think you ll have the choice … just wait it out and treat em like you didnt drop em

15

omg!

I’d cry. lol.

As long as you got him quick enough and he didn’t hit the ground hard, he MIGHT be ok, but goldfish are pretty weak against that sort of thing…

16

he will be fine.

fish dont feel pain anyway.

“The world’s foremost expert on the subject is Dr. James D. Rose of the University of Wyoming. He’s spent 30 years working on questions of neurology, examining data on the responses of animals to painful stimuli. In 2003 Rose published a landmark study in the journal Reviews of Fisheries Science, concluding that animals need specific regions of the cerebral cortex in order to feel pain. And fish do not have them.”

check for concussion….. is he feeling sick? how’s his vision? & can he swim in a straight line?

18

he is going to die most likely.
I dropped my goldfish and he died within 2 days afterward
even if he seems fine its all a lie :(

Don’t worry. Just move him into a tank with filter and he’ll be all right

20

oh my god get him out of the water and perform mouth to mouth i cannot believe you havent dont that yet. he will not live in water you idiot. it might help to leave him out in the sun he needs air.

21

take him to A vet

22

I am in a school for aquaculture and i think it should be fine. I don’t see why anything would happen to it. As long as you got him up quickly everything should be ok. Good luck and please let me know what happens. this would be good to know about. thanks and again good luck. katie

23

im sure he’ll be okay. did you drop him like 4 ft? or like 4 inches? as long as hes swimming around fine now, im sure he’ll be fine.
ive droped my fish while cleaning his bowl. and hes been okay.

24

It depends on how hard he fell and also how dirty his floor was. I’ve done this a couple of times but I always add stress coat to replenish my fishes slime coating. He really does have a 50/50 chance of survival.

25

I have accidentally dropped my fish (not a long distance) and put it back into it’s bowl and it was fine. Don’t worry unless he is floating upside- down.

26

He might be fine from the fall, but he’s not fine from being kept in a bowl.

Common, comet, and shubunkin goldfish need 75 gallons of water per fish, as they can get to be 14 + inches long.

Fancy goldfish need 30 gallons of water per fish, as they can get to be 8 + inches long.

They need filtration:

Goldfish can live as long as 25 years, IF they’re kept in suitable tanks, with suitable filtration. Hundreds, if not thousands, or more, goldfish die every year from being kept in bowls. Goldfish that are kept in bowls usually live no longer than 10 years.

Please, for the sake of your goldfishes life get him a tank and a filter, and do some research on goldfish care.

RLP is right… the fall is most likely nothing to worry about, but the bowl is. he won’t live a full life in there, get him at the very least a 10g tank with heavy filtration… and ready this (and check around the site, it has good info):
