(Disclaimer- You don’t HAVE to go to a Sea/Mariners School to obtain your Capts license. You can study on your own and get the pre-requisite “time on the water” on your own and just show up for the test. However, it’s proven that more people actually PASS the test when they take a course. It’s your call……)

You may want to check with the local fisheries ( ) under licenses and permits ( main page ) to get the info you want.
You’ll have to do some homework because only you know what level you want to be at during your venture. Yes, you will need a commercial fishing license if you plan on taking more than the quota given to the regular Joe Shmoe and selling to the masses. ~good luck catchin’.
