Try reading lots of saltwater aquarium books and/or asking pet store staff (kind of lame, though). Hope this helps!

I think there is a Saltwater for Dummies book. Go to Amazon.com or something to see if there is.

There’s lots of info available. For a website, I highly recommend – there professionally written articles on everything from equipment to livestock to diseases and a forum to ask questions

For books, some of the newer and most comprehensive (for beginners in the hobby) are The New Marine Aquarium by Michael S. Paletta. Microcosm Ltd. ISBN 1-890087-52-1
or The Conscientious Marine Aquarist – Robert M. Fenner. Microcosm Ltd. ISBN 1-890087-02-5, plus anything written by Julian Sprung – he just has too many to mention by name!

Go to this site and check out the left side of the page, there is a ton of info on setting up and maintaining marine tanks. This is one of the best saltwater sites I have seen:

I go to “About.com” for a lot of good information.
