I want to repair a few spots in the flooring of my boat. Why can’t I simply put 3/4 inch plywood over it? ?

I have a couple of soft spots in the current floor, but the majority of the floor is in tact. I purchased the boat used and I have no idea when this floor was installed. All I know is that my boat pulled out of a softened spot.
