Trout LOVE bug-larvae under the ice. Hellgramite-”looking” ice-jigs with lotsa “legs” and “tails” can be deadly, ESP if you use in conjunction with meal-worms.

Crappie-minnows work well also.

The problem with trout under ice is “concentration”, and WHEN they are hungry!

And remember that “stocked” trout are usually fed trout “pellets”. In this case, a “brown, fluffy, ball-fly” soaked in trout attractant will/would be deadly.

Hope this helps? Good fishing!

green or pink glow-hook topped with a couple of maggots and a kernel of white corn roughly 6-12 inches off the bottom or above the weeds. i use either hollow core or rubber core sinkers about 3/4 ounce. it puts a load on your rod and it is easier to detect a hit. typically they move into shallower water in the evening until daybreak to feed then out deeper during the day. rainbows can be a little leader shy so use max 8lb test to avoid the line casting a shadow.
i live in British Columbia and most of the lakes here are stocked with rainbows and i’m out on a lake most weekends.

Well fly fishing for them is out of the question so i suggest you worm for them with an artificial, most other this like these will work just fish them slowly

ok now when you go, get a huge bag of wite beens, dump them down the hole so it make the bottem wite and you can see the fish go by mite need a flash lite, pick up one of those tiny tiny lites at the fishing store looks about 1 inch long silver with a red tip, stick it in a air plane jig tale and wait till you see the fish, warning you will look silly staring in the hole with a flash lite but it works great in ponds
