Is it possible to install remote start on a manual transmission truck??

By

I have a ’95 Ford Ranger. It’s getting colder by the day. It made me wonder if I could get remote start on my truck even though it’s manual. Some of you many think this is a dumb question, since how would you start the car without pushing down on the clutch, but my dad has cruise control on his Toyota Celica GT and I have no idea how it works since he also has stick. But, I don’t want cruise control anyway. I was just making a point there.

If so, how much does it usually cost and can I do it myself or is it really complex?
And what is an engine warmer? I guess that would be an alternative for my purposes, but I don’t even know what it is or how it works or most important, how much it costs.

I would go with an engine warmer, if you find one. It should fit in one of the plugs in the engine block, just unscrew the plug and screw in the warmer, should run off any AC outlet. good luck.

Yes it can be installed.
There is a ziebart store near me that installs them and can put remote lock/unlock of car already has power door locks. A friend had one put on his truck with a diesel engine so he could start it from the door of the factory where we work. He would go over to the door about five minutes before time to punch out and by the time he got in it at least had started to warm up.
It had a manual trans and the answer is there is a sensor that detects if the transmission is in gear. So if you leave it in gear the starter will not engage when you hit the button.
Can’t tell you about the price, maybe the main website has that info.

It’s possible. But why would you want to do it? The thing is if you forget to put it on neutral everytime you park, you’ll end up spending more for repairs. Got my drift? Unless the purpose is to warm your engine faster during winter, the alternative is the engine warmer. Check out Summit auto parts.

It cost about $200.00. to get a company to do it who installs alarms
I have never seen a remote starter kit for sale, so from my knowledge you can’t do it yourself, and as long as your vehical is in nuetral, and you have a good parking brake. Hope I have given you the answer you were looking for.

Why not.Hook it into your neutral safety switch in the transmission. When the transmission is in neutral the engine can be started.Be sure that you always set your emergency brake when you exit your vehicle.Just to keep from having any unwanted accidents when starting your auto when not inside. Also leave your vehicle in neutral when leaving your vehicle.

There is a company that sells a remote start for a manual transmission car. I forget there name but yes they are a pain to install, and it is very easy to screw up the installation.
How it works from what I heard is you activate it before you turn off your car, with the clutch up and in neutral, and then remove the key from the ignition, and your motor will still be running. Then you click a button the engine shuts off and then its good to be started next morning.
Your best bet is to get a car stereo place or a shop that does that to install it for you. They will give you a warranty for it and it will be a profession and tidy job.
Note tho that I was looking into it and I got a quote for $260+tax. You should really reconsider if its worth putting that much money into a truck that old.

It would cost more than your truck is worth if it is in fact even possible
