Mishfish Boardfishing La Jolla – big white sea bass

By

I caught this 40lb white sea bass on my conventional rig while boardfishing in La Jolla, California. We paddled out at about 4:30am and landed this hawg around 6am. My pal Calvin from Boardfisher.com did a little interview with me afterwards. It’s hard to hear me but you get the gist!

That was definitely one of the most fun fishes I have caught on my SUP. It towed me around for a fw minutes and then luckily it went down in the kelp. On my board I don’t have any leverage if the fish swims out to sea but have better leverage if it goes down. I was prepared with 40lb mono. There was no way that this one was getting away.

Absolutely huge. Did it take you for a ride round the bay before you brought it in?

Meeshfish,

Nice catch and video. Congrats on WSB. The Thresher Sharks are in LJ in big numbers. Now is the time to do it if you like to hook ‘em up on the paddle board.
