@44typhoon it’s a good thing they require catch and release, cause you can fish for even majorly endangered fish, and still ensure they survive, and also it gives others a chance to hook a monster too. and for me as long as I’m within a few pounds of the real weight I’m fine, I dont need to know the exact weight in pounds and ounces, all though it’s cooler that way when you have a replica mount of it made. I’d much rather set the real fish free and have a replica made then kill and mount it

@drewnickel
440lbs is taken from the sturgeon length/weight chart. In the fall when salmon are running the fish are definitely much heavier, but I don’t like to guess.
These fish must be released, and it’s not important to me to know exactly how much it weighs.

I think for trips like that you need a scale on your boat rated to weight small whales.
I’m sure with that beasts size it was easily more than 440lbs. I’d like to see it’s real weight. kuddos for the catch and release though, that’s the true meaning of sportsman. for big fish, you should always release them so someone else gets the chance to hook it too, and unless it’s seriously injured you should never keep it.

It’s too bad not everyone has to abide by fishing rules… apparently some groups are permitted to fish irresponsibly. These groups make claims to have been born with the rights to take what they want. Canada NEEDS to get rid of a racist policy of allowing more rights to privileged people in this country, are we all not equally damaging the land?

That’s one beautiful prehistoric fish and there wasn’t much of a struggle like a marlin would do. It’s a lot like the river is giving birth.
