What is wrong with my fish?
By · CommentsQuestion by : What is wrong with my fish?
I have 2 fish in a 10 gallon tank (I already know this is small)
1 is a fantail fish and the other is a tiny goldfish (not a comet though) . They’ve only been in the tank for a week and from doing research I think the fantail might have ammonia. I didnt really notice anything when I first got him, but recently he’s gotton these brownish spots on the side of his head (on its gills almost). At first it just looked the color of his body and I thought it was nothing. But the spots have been getting darker and his tail and fins even have a tiny bit of brown on them. What is wrong with my fish & what can I do to help it? When I got the tank I added fresh water, put in this liquid stuff that says it “neutralizes chlorine, chloramine, & heavy metals harmful to fish” and let the filter run for 24 hours before I added the fish. They have only been in this take for 5 days and I do plan on cleaning it out very soon. Can anyone please help me??

You fish can’t “have ammonia” ammonia is a chemical that builds up in the water and burns yoru fish. It comes from fish pee and rotten food.
If you didn’t cycle your tank for 6-8 weeks before adding your fish then it is cycling now. The ammonia is going to build up to dangerous levels since your tank is way overstocked, then good bacteria will start to build up in your tank and convert the ammonia to nitrite which is less toxic, more bacteria will build up and convert the nitrite to nitrate which can be removed by your filter and water changes. During this time period your fish may die which is why its best to do this without having fish in the tank. There is nothing you can do but wait and get a book on proper goldfish care.

Question by : Can anyone recommend any 4 seat or more boat(s) that a PT Cruiser can tow (2000lbs max & 200lb tongue wt)?
I’m trying to find something nice (no offense, but “John boats” need not apply) for weekend joy riding and fishing on the lakes in and around the Atlanta, GA area.

attached are 4 potentials, you only excluded jon boats, so I felt free to look at all. I have a targa 185, very nice boat, and comes fully equipped like the other ones I suggested, I did stay within your weight limit, but I was close on some.

Snowflake eel pet store questions..?
By · CommentsQuestion by vbgrl08: Snowflake eel pet store questions..?
Please read whole question…
I’ve always found eels to be really cool animals..and I’ve always wanted to own one, and I thought snowflake eels were very pretty. But I’ve never had a saltwater tank before. So I was at the pet store the other day and in the freshwater section..they were selling an eel that they had labeled as a “freshwater snowflake eel”….now it was definitely an eel, not just a fish that looked like an eel, it definitely had all eel features. And it did look a lot like a snowflake eel. But upon looking them up, I found that everyone said a freshwater SNOWFLAKE eel does not exist.
Well I was wondering, is the pet store just filled with a bunch of idiot employees? Or are they trying to just trick the customers?
Or can snowflake eels tolerate freshwater while still young??
I ask this because I saw they also sold “freshwater puffer fish” but when I looked those up too, it said that puffer fish are a saltwater fish, but while they’re still babies/young, they will tolerate fresh water, but eventually the tank will need to be converted to saltwater. Is this the same for the eel??
Thanks =]
Well I know they were real =P I saw them. But is it actually a freshwater SNOWFLAKE EEL? And I dont remember what the puffer fish looked like but I couldnt find any info on a freshwater type
Nevermind….just answered my own question…
“Among advanced hobbyists it is known that all species referred to as freshwater moray eel in fact need brackish or marine water to thrive. The story is quite the same as with the brackish puffers T. nigroviridis and T. fluviatilis. They can last in freshwater even for months or years, but that is far away from the optimal care and thus should be avoided.”
