Trail in Price Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, NC.

The understory is thick with legendary dog-hobble, said to grow so intertwined that it traps bear-hunting dogs more intent on sniffing than watching where they are going; once caught, or "hobbled," they fall easy prey to waiting bears.

Nope, not unless you want to. I have heard that babies who hear barking from the womb are less likely to be startled by that kind of noise after birth, AND babies who are exposed to pet dander earlier on have a less chance of pet allergies later.

The family I nanny for has a very big loveable Bernese Mountain Dog and I know she’ll be great with the baby. Pets just have an instinct that babies are fraglile so it should be fine to keep your pets of the are good natured to begin with.

If you don’t have time to properly care for the dogs, you should find them a new home.

4

The friendly one keep for sure if you want, but maybe gie the hunting dog away. Of course it is easy for me to say, but i don’t know how well behave your hunting dog is. If you trust the hunting dog, then keep them both.

5

It depends.

When you get your new baby are you gonna give your oldest away?

A Dog is a family member. If you dont feel that way, you shouldnt have gotten one to begin with.

If your kid dont act right, you gonna give them away??

No, your going to find a way to make it work, where everyone is safe.

Why do you want to get rid of them? Are the children seriously allergic to them? Are the children in danger?
IF everyone is getting along and your able to handle the load then you should keep them. I have 2 dogs and 2 kids and I’m not thinking of letting them go.
If you can’t take it, give them to a good family who will.
Good luck and I hope all goes well.

Make sure the dog does not jump up and never leave the dog on his/her own with your children as dogs are mostly loving and caring but can occasionally be unpredictible.
also if your other half is with you I’m sure that it will be ok to keep them.

Noo! Dogs are usually children friendly, plus the kids would be sad if their dogs just all of a sudden left :(

If your dogs are not a threat then no. Make sure you practice proper precautions, such as not leaving small children and dogs alone and training your children about how to treat dogs. As long as you are careful and logical about it things will be fine.

Invest in dog training if necessary. Also, “working” dogs (like hunting dogs) tend to be good breeds to have with families because they are pack oriented, more intelligent and tend to have herding instincts.

Make sure that you still give your dogs attention so that they don’t feel replaced by the kids. But if your dogs haven’t shown any aggressive tendencies to your two older children by now you probably don’t have an issue.

It’s pretty harsh to “get rid of” animals that love and depend on you because you have a kid. Having dogs can be a truly great experience for kids. I for one am so happy that my 3 year old dobie/lab mix will be around when my son is born. I’ve made sure to train him properly and I’ll make sure to teach my son that animals need to be respected and treated with kindness.

My unborn son already loves our dog. Jackaroo (the dog) will lay his head on my tummy and “talk” and the baby gets soooo excited! And my dog has become so protective (not in an aggressive way) of our entire family since I’ve been pregnant. Of course my dog has also spent a lot of time around kids (I’m a teacher and used to be a nanny) and LOVES them. That dog is convinced that children were created to ride him/drop sticky sweet things and throw balls over and over and over and over and over…

Animal control — it would be nice if you also gave them the shot records. Call and see if they pick up or do you have to deliver. I applaud you.

It seems like you have some doubts on keeping your dogs, perhaps, you want to have someone else take care of them for the time being.

Yes, it isn’t easy to take care of young children and new born in the beginning. Needless to say about pets to add on top of the responsibility.

Should you decide to let go your dogs at this moment, just always remember you can have pets in the future when kids are older.

Dogs are not a temporary accessory when you by a dog it is a “life time” commitment before getting one you should analyse if i have children will i be able to care for them or if i get a new job etc you cant just get one change your life plans and say oh well loyal loving companion you just dont belong anymore

if your life changes after your children are born are you just going to be like oh well sorry children have to let you go you just dont fit in well with the situation

Yes.

I have a pekinese. And I just had a baby. it’s sooo hard balancing the two of them them. I am a single mother, and I live in a condo community. So I can’t just let the dog run outside….

The baby has his schedule and so does the dog unfortunately. Alot of times it’s raining or just too cold for me to take that baby outside. So half of the time the dog has to use the “Pee pad” which is making the house soo unsanitary. It’s not fair to the doggie either. My father is going to adopt him from me

i don’t think you should get rid of your dogs specially if you have other children the dogs are completely harmless thus far

15

awww I have two doggies and I can’t even IMAGINE having to give them away! Or wanting to for that matter!

You didn’t mention WHY – is it because the children are allergic? They don’t get along? Or you don’t have time for them anymore?

If for some reason I HAD to get rid of my dogs, I would ask a trusted family member to care for them – so I’d still be able to visit them and have them in my life.
