What fresh water fish can you catch with worms?

By

I’m going fishing tomorrow at a fresh water lake. I’m taking one rod with a spinner bait for Largmouth bass and am thinking of taking another one and fish with some worms since I used to enjoy it. What fish can you catch with them in an average lake? Obviously you can’t know what specific fish are in this particular lake , but just generally what fish are in an average lake that you can catch with worms. Thank you

Depends on where you live but bluegill, catfish, sometimes bass and a variety of panfish. I’ve caught everything on a worm including a gar so if a fish is hungry a worm is the ultimate weapon.

I used to fish with worms all the time as well, and you can catch virtually anything in the lake except grass carp. Most fish have a worm in their diet. So you could catch anything from you largemouth bass, to blue gill, to even catfish and carp. It all depends on what the feeding time is for the fish you want to catch and what fish the worm apeals to the most in the lake. Hope i helped :)

Bream
Bass
Catfish
Gar
Pike
Crappie (although they prefer minnows)
Sucker
Bowfin (Mudfish) (more likely in rivers)
Perch
There are others, but these are the ones that I usually catch.

Good luck!

bass, trout, catfish, bluegill, carp, bream, crappie, sturgeon, and about any other fish you can think of.
If you are fishing with worms you can catch practically any fish that is in the area you are fishing.
Its just a matter of what size worm to use.

Bass, catfish, carp, bluegill, crappie, suckers, and a lot more. Too many to list.

If it’s rigged properly any fish will eat a worm. It’s like pizza for fish. How many people have you met that don’t like pizza? It may not always be the best choice but it’s probably never going to be a bad choice. It’s a slow, live bait presentation that makes an easy meal for any fish. The problem with worms is that the small fish (like rock bass, sunfish, perch etc…) tend to get to them first.

Bass/panfish/walleye/catfish.

Basically all fish, but unless they are really hungry it will usually be catfish and bluegill. Just make sure you get it out as far as you can and you should catch something.

I was striper fishing and caught two 3lb or so largemouth on anchovie last week off the bottom. It just depends on when and where.

Almost anything will go after your worm if it is hungry. I used to catch bass, perch, bluegill, sunfish, pike, and bullheads on them all the time when I was little and fishing at my grandfather’s old camp. The only fish that were in that lake that I had never caught on a worm were the walleyes and that was mostly because I was dock fishing.

if it swims, you can get it on worms
