I have fished many lakes and rivers and I have found that Shimano makes a nice product at affordable prices. what are you looking to catch?

I have fished in the 100s of tournaments. I have used just about every kind of rod and reel that there is.

If you want a good reel for a reasonable price go with a Shamino Curado 119$.

A good rod would be a Falcon anywhere from 80-120$
If you get a Falcon get a Lowrider or a Cara.

if you are a begin er get a zebco 33 it is not too expensive

New rod and reel? Well that is a big question, it all depends on what kind of fish you are going after. Bank fishing, you can do well with just about any combo you can find at wal-mart and the price ranges vary greatly….you can find them as low as $25, but remember….you get what you pay for. Also find what you are comfortable with….this is important….hope this helps. When in doubt ask a fish and game warden….

Shakespeare Ugly Stik and a Shamano Sedona reel. Also I don’t own one, but I have heard the Okuma reels are a great bargain for the price.

Go down to the fishing pier and rent some and whichever one you like,go buy one like it.

Tell us what part of the world you’re in, where you’ll be fishing, and for what (if you know). A good setup for bank fishing for trout would be nearly useless if you’re trolling from a boat or fishing in the ocean, and vice versa.

Your question is a very common but a pretty broad one. First we need ta’ know what you be fishin’, Freshwater, Salt, type species of fish, etc.?? What ya’ need to do is add some of this additional info., so people will be able ta’ help you out with your specific needs. If it be freshwater than my usual response is an Ugly Stik combination (spinning) by Shakespeare ~ good price and quality. Links below will show ya’ some set-ups (freshwater ultra-light rigs). To reiterate (as I do so often :) ) is ta’ give us some more information regardin’ your type of fishin’ needs :)

it all depends on what type of fishing you are planning to do. you want to get a pole that is real sensitive at the tip so you will be able to feel when the fish strikes your bait

Right now I use a zebco 33 reel combined with ugly stick rod. It has worked really well for me with rivers and lakes both.

i have a shimano 5′ and i have a shimano reel on it. i put 120 yards of 4 lb test on it and i use it for pan fish, trout, bass and even walleye. just go to this link. it will cost money to ship it, but L.L. bean has a 100% warranty. if it breaks just ship it back and get store credit or get a new one
(dont get an ugly stick they are junk)
any brand like shimano, st. croix, g. loomis, and even mitchel are good.
i strongly reccomend these two links they are great i am going to buy one a.s.a.p
=

(use the 5’6″ for the rod)
(use the 1000 for the reel)
i advise you to use L.L.bean for any fishing or any other outdoor gear and apparel needs.
