Catfish like to lay on the bottom, they prefer holes in the bottom, and if there is a current they prefer to face upstream…
if there are weeds, rocks, logs, piers, or a drop-off they will be there….

you could go towards rocks or obstacles in the water to catch them. you could cast in the center. i use the rc fishing pole on my rc boat and i drove my boat in the center of a pond and i almost caught one but i panicked and it came off my hook.

Yeah most likely in the middle or a deep area. They are night feeders so most are caught early morning or at night. I’ve used bait shrimp or shad as a cutbait and had a lock of success. You have to attract them by smell and these give off a strong oily odor. Try those early in the morning and you should have some success.

use stinky bait
use a tight line.. weight on the bottom and the hook about 1 or 2 foot up from the weight.. then pull the line tie so when it pops you know you have a fish

There really isnt a (best spot) to cast for catfish,if you are using liver the catfish will smell it and come to it.Just let it sit for a while and cast there for 15 min at a time.Cast about 3 times cause the livers sent is in the water there. If still no luck move on.Rooster live will work best cause its tougher and wont fall off easily,or smaller fish cant take.Chicken liver will work though.
You best luck is to use a paternoster rig! and paste link)and if its just for catfish u do not need to tie your line directly to the swivel, just tie it to the 3 hole swivel. Then cut a foot long piece of line and tie it to the other hole straight across from the first tie.Next get a snap swivel and tie it to the end so u can just slide a weight on,or you can tie 1 directly to the line. For the hook cut a 7in piece of line or more and tie it to the remaining swivel hole, then tie a circle hook to it.In the link ive posted it is the rig in the middle.
Hope this helps!!
