For freshwater fishin’ there’s the American River ~ Steelhead (Sea-run Rainbow Trout), Shad, Catfish and Salmon ta’ name a few, along with Folsom Lake ~ Bass both Small and Largemouth (Black Bass), Crappie, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, King Salmon (Chinook) and Catfish. Hope this helps

Map of the lake itself, fishin’ reports, directions ta’ get there, species of fish’, accomdations, etc..:
Might add there be Lake Natoma which is located within’ a few miles of Folsom Lake.

The fishing in the area is definitely fresh water and the number of fish you can try for is extensive.
1. Folsom lake- trout, catfish, small mouth and large mouth bass, blue gill, and crappie.
2. Sutter bypass- excellent for large catfish, bass and blue gill.
3. American River- Salmon, steelhead and stripers.
4. Sacramento River-salmon, trout, steelhead, catfish, stripers, sturgeon, large mouth bass, crappie and blue gill.
This would be for starters, but the fishing opportunities in and near Sacramento are numerous and the fishing can be excellent. Good Luck!
