Why am I always thirsty?

I’m wondering if anyone else has this problem or if they could offer some insight into it.

I am like a fish. I consume water at such a frequent rate, it’s unbelievable. There are days where I go through 2 2-liters of water.
I often wake up 2-3 times at night just so I can get something to drink because I’m so thirsty and I almost always has cottonmouth.

I know this is a common symptom of diabetes but I’ve been tested by three different doctors for it and nothing. There are also only one known cases in my family of diabetes and that is in a great uncle.

I’m starting to wonder if I just part fish or something lol

Could I just be unusually thirsty or is there something else I haven’t looked at?

Besides the extreme thirst there isn’t really anything that is noticeably out of the ordinary.

Thanks for your help!
Would sodium effect my water intake that much?
No medication except for an inhaler which I’ve been on my entire life and has never caused problems.

I’m always thirsty. I dunno why but I don’t have diabetes.

If that is a side effect then I guess that’s what it is. Just keep close to a mirror and make sure you aren’t growing gills behind your ears.

You might be taking in too much sodium, or do you do a lot of exercise? Maybe your body is just dehydrated from that. I do that sometimes, it just seems like I can’t get enough! But it usually goes away for me. Hope it helps!

you on meds? read the directions with your pill/s. maybe it says dry mouth, which means drinking constantly to stay hydrated. or side effects could be dydration or heatstroke.

Are you putting on weight? If so, maybe you’re retaining water. Thirst is also a possible side effect of medication, such a corticosteroids for dermatitis. If you’re taking diuretic blood pressure pills, you might be urinating fluids causing you to need to intake fluids.

If your doctor’s ruled all that stuff out, then you’re part fish.

Since diabetes mellitus has been ruled out you should go back to the Dr and have him check your pituitary gland and do a fluid deprivation test. Diabetes insipidus mimics diabetes with symptoms being extreme thirst and dilute urination. It’s a condition where the pituitary excretes to much anti diuretic hormone. Good luck.
