They’re a rare find . . . most old fishing lures are on the bottom of lakes and rivers. The craftsmanship and materials used also play a role.

Because they remind us old guys of “the good old days” and the fish we caught and trips we took with our fathers and grandfathers that are no longer with us. Back in the days getting a Heddon River Runt or Creek Chub Pikey minnow for a birthday gift and then having dad or grampa take you out in the boat or to the river and go use it was a special occasion. I still have some old Bombers my dad gave to me over 40 years ago and while I don’t use them for fishing, they do deserve a special place in my office.
Besides all that the old wooden plugs have a very unique action, one not well imitated with plastic injection molding and mass production, and they still catch fish when nothing else will!

Enjoy fishing and pass it on!

Take a look at all the Fishing records in the world and you’ll see those are the ones that catch em.

I would say because people collect things that they are interested in. People will give high prices to get something know one else has. Some lures are not manufactured in high quanities and makes them more valuble. The packages they come in are also highly prized because there are so few around. People would buy a lure and put it in thier tackle box and throw the package away.
