Why does my fishing pole reel backwards only.?
ByWhen i reel my fishing pole the correct way one should after releasing it only lowers the line but when i reel it backwards it brings the line towards me, why is this?
it works fine its just to bring the line towards me i have to reel it backwards instead of the usual way and and to lower the line i reel it the way which is supposed to bring the line up

you’ve either got it upside down, or your line was wound backwards.

Am sorta’ jumbled up with your wordin’ it but, if it’s a spinnin’ reel it could be the anti-reverse lever. Link will show ya’ the lever on the reel

Picture of spinning reel with an anti-reverse lever (2nd paragraph will give ya’ a basic idea of how it works) :
Note: Different brand reels location of lever vary…

Sounds to me like you’re holding your spinning rod and reel upside down, with the reel on top?? Try turning it over??
